At Augmenta, we think that it is very important to provide a turnkey solution, something that you can plug & play right away and make it work in the shortest time possible.
We spend quite some time every year to design accessories that fit well for the AV ecosystem. That said, each project might have different constraints, so here are our tips & tricks for correctly hanging our sensors.
Temporary installation
Temporary installation require fast setup and dismantlement, and are usually provided hanging mounts with different type of truss structures.
The default accessories provided for Augmenta are designed for this type of structure, or easy snap in your studio or desks. We provide a magic arm and a clamp for easy sensor hanging, as well as mounts for sensors adapted to sensor orientation and safety requirement.
Safety recommendation : Always use a safety sling !
Permanent installation
For permanent installation, such as museums, immersive space or theme park, you might want to use a different system, that might be very site dependant, that’s why we don’t sell accessories for that. We recommend to not use a clamp and have it entirely screwed to the wall or ceiling, but some people use our magic arm and build their system on top of it.
Option 1 : use a specific accessory
There are different ways to securely fasten sensors to a flat surface, while keeping orientation tuning, here is one example.
Option 2 : Call a professional
Correctly hanging a sensor depends on lot of parameters, that vary from one site to another, and one country to another. Please call a professional integrator that will design and build for you the correct hanging system.
Here are some tips
- During installation or maintenantce, the augmenta sensor needs to oriented correctly ande precisely
- During production, the sensor should move as less as possible, otherwise you might need to recalibrate more often
- Be mindful of
- Dilatation of building structures in very warm country
- Earthquakes in some country
- Vibrations of the ceiling (foot steps, parkings, roads, construction site nearby)
- Not placing the sensors in warm air stream (like the cooling system output of a videoprojector), this might result in sensor overheating, lifespan and metal parts dilatation
- Temperature near the sensors
Outdoor installation
Outdoor installation do have the same requirements as temporary or premanent, but with additional constraints. Always use accessories and cable with the correct rating for your environments. Please note that most of the Augmenta provided accessories by default are designed for indoors, and we do have specific accessories for outdoor.
Conclusion
The performance of your Augmenta installation does also depends on quality of your physical integration. The sensor hanging setup is an aspect often overlooked that plays a significant role in achieving high accuracy and stability over time.
