The maximum number of sensors that can be connected to Augmenta (software or hardware) is ultimately determined by hardware capacity. The system needs enough CPU processing power, and sufficient network bandwidth—both on the switch backbone and on the receiving machine—to handle the data flow, which varies depending on how much data each sensor sends.
Our servers are designed and sized to provide the right CPU and bandwidth for a specific number of sensors (see
Server comparison chart ).
For the Pro software, we apply a more conservative sensor limit to ensure that it works reliably on “standard” computers and 1Gb networks —where CPU and bandwidth can vary a lot from one installation to another.
That’s also why Pro software has limitations for high-bandwidth sensors but not for low-bandwidth ones: the goal is to stay compatible with the widest range of typical setups.
